Wall Wrap Installation

The installation of wall wrap can help reduce air-flow around insulation and through the building cavity, allowing the insulation to work more efficiently.

Benefits of Wrapping

Benefits once your home is complete

Reduces draughts: Wall Wrap reduces draughts through the wall frame and around wall insulation batts. Reducing air infiltration makes a home more comfortable and helps insulation work more efficiently.

Reduces moisture entry: Wall Wrap can reduce moisture entry through the wall helping prevent structural damage to the frame and allowing the wall insulation batts to perform at the specified R-Value rating.

Increases energy efficiency: Wall Wrap helps a home improve its energy efficiency by protecting the wall insulation batts from draughts and moisture entry. The overall R-Value rating of a wall can be boosted when the reflective face of Thermoseal Wall Wrap is positioned adjacent to an air gap. If walls are filled with insulation batts it’s recommended that Thermoseal Wall Wrap XP is used.

Benefits during construction of your home

Protects the building structure from the weather: Wall Wrap protects a timber frame and floor from water damage before brick walls or cladding is installed.

Improves on-site work flow efficiency: Wall Wrap can improve on-site work flow by allowing internal trades to commence work before the brick walls or cladding is installed. Learn more...

Consider this, a typical ventilated brick veneer or lightweight clad wall assembly will experience a loss in the thermal performance of the wall insulation due to air-flow through the assembly, regardless of the type of insulation installed. (Building Science Corporation, 2013) This loss is a result of the infiltration of air changing the temperature of the air trapped around the insulation, which in turn changes the effectiveness of the insulation to achieve its designed R-Value.

The installation of wall wrap (either permeable or non-permeable) can help reduce air-flow around insulation and through the building cavity, allowing the insulation to work more efficiently. Consideration of condensation management then becomes important in the selection process based upon location and building design as wall wrap is an important element in the effective management of condensation in the home.

New air infiltration experiments show that wall wrap can significantly improve the energy efficiency of a home. Download the Wall Wrap Research article for more information.

Thermoseal Wall Wrap is a protective second skin that’s wrapped around your house as it’s being built. Download the Thermoseal Wall Wrap Brochure for more information.

Need a breather? For true condensation control, upgrade to vapour permeable. Download the Enviroseal Wall Wrap brochure for more information.
